How to Take Care of your Engine

Your car’s engine is the main power source of your vehicle making it on top of your list when it comes to maintaining the condition of your auto. Your engine just like anything else needs proper tender loving care. We rely heavily on our vehicles and expect them to perform without encountering any problems.

However, as the owner, you should also learn to do your share of the responsibility. This includes regular and proper maintenance. If you neglect your vehicle then don’t be surprised when your car begins to fall apart.

Here are some tips on how to properly take care of your car engine.

  • Change your oil
This will help keep your engine running smoothly. Pick a brand that is reputable and produces a high-quality material. Don’t settle for cheap oils because you will only damage your engine if you decide to use low-quality materials.

Your engine requires proper lubrication from the oil and the more you drive your car, the more you use up your engine oil. A regular oil change will keep your engine lubricated and clean. Once you use up too much of your oil power, your engine may get contaminated with carbon deposits.

Once this happens, your engine’s power may decrease, become rough idle, and may lead to various car problems. Make sure you change your oil every time it’s due for a replacement. You can also check from time to time to determine if the oil appears dirty. If this is the case, you can have your oil replaced.

  • Change your oil filter
Once you change your engine oil then you should also replace the oil filter. Some engine manufacturers have preferred oil filter brands. Your oil filter helps improve the performance of your car engine.
  • Check your oil level

There are certain amounts of oil that are burned by the engine. If you happen to be driving a car with a low than normal oil level then it can lead to serious engine problems. This is why it is important to regularly check your vehicle’s oil level.

It will only take you a few minutes to check manually. You can do this at least once a month. Use a dipstick to measure it and a KevianClean Auto Detailing Towel to wipe off the oil residue.

A well-maintained car engine will prevent you from getting into unforeseen and unfortunate situations. If you are not confident in keeping tabs on it by yourself, just make sure you have it regularly checked by a professional car service shop.
