How to Defrost your Windshield

Most people absolutely love winter season. Families, children, and couples often spend time having fun in the snow. On the other hand, a lot of motorists do not look forward to driving on snow and ice covered roads.

To most drivers, it means added maintenance and extra effort. When you’re driving in the snow, your windshield tends to get foggy from the moisture. If ignored, this can be dangerous and may potentially cause accidents on the road.

This is why it is important to keep your windshield clean and clear. Defrosting it regularly can ensure that you and your passengers are safe on the streets. Here are some ways on how to keep your windshield free from ice.

  1. Turn on your windshield defroster. This is the most obvious step in order to get rid of that foggy windshield. However, you need to give it some time in order for it to eliminate all the ice on the glass. Take note that while you are waiting, you are also using up your gas.
  1. Use rubbing or isopropyl alcohol and water. Just combine 1/3 of water with 2/3 alcohol in a spray bottle and spray the solution directly into the windshield. Notice as the frost disappears in your windshield. The rubbing or isopropyl alcohol acts as an antifreeze.
  1. Put a car cover. Protecting your windshield from direct contact with snow or ice can prevent frosting on the glass. Putting a car cover can save you time and effort from cleaning and clearing up your windshield.

If you don’t have a car cover, you can use a towel or cardboard instead. Just insert it into the wiper blades to hold it in place. You can also use plastic bags and rubber bands to cover and protect your side mirrors too. This is a cost-effective way of preventing the build-up of ice and frost in your windshield.

  1. Use commercial deicing solutions. You can purchase deicing products for an ice-free windshield. Just spray the formula on the windshield every night and you’ll wake up with a clear glass.

If your windshield is already foggy, just spray the solution directly on the glass and then scrape the ice off afterward. The solution makes it easier for you to remove the ice from the glass.

For an ice-free windshield, apply the KevianClean Quick Wax over the glass. This helps protect your glass from ice. This way, you can drive more safely on the road.
