Leather belts are a staple choice in men’s fashion and accessories. It not only holds your pants tight to your waist but it also amps up your style. A good leather belt can transform an ordinary get up into a cool and chic look.

Buying a good quality leather belt should be on top of your shopping list. Leather belts may be durable but other styles are made with some delicate material. Here are some tips on how to take care of your leather belt to help prolong its lifespan.

  • Don’t get it wet.
Leather and water don’t mix together. Always keep your belt dry and use a towel to pat it dry if it gets wet then let it dry naturally.

Some leather belts are designed to resist moisture. However, before leaving the house during a rainy day or winter season, we highly suggest not to wear a leather belt. Since sweat and moisture can potentially ruin your belt, check and wipe it off if necessary.

    • Clean your belt.
The leather material on your belt can develop a certain smell over time. The best way to get rid of the odor is to clean it with a brush and soap.

Scrub each side gently and rinse off with water. Allow it to air dry. Do not use any heating tools as the heat can add damage to the belt.

      • Condition it.
Some belts tend to stiffen over use. You can apply a belt dressing to soften the leather. Moisturizing the leather will prevent it from drying and cracking up.

The best way to take care of your leather is to treat it properly. Apply our KevianClean Leather Cleaner and Conditioner to your leather belt using a clean cloth. It will help protect the leather and prolong the longevity of your belt.

        • Buy an alternate belt.
If you wear your belt every day, you’ll end up wearing it out quickly. Use another belt that you can alternate every other day. Take off the belt from your pants as soon as you get home. Leaving it on your pants can deform your belt and leave it wrinkled.

Before buying a belt, make sure it fits your waist correctly. A lot of people make the mistake of buying a belt that is too big for their waist. This will only bend the belt more and wear it out faster. It will only result in creases on the leather.
